This needle-felted-wool Hope Hippo sweetheart is a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

The sculpture is created from 100% local + organic merino wool, in northern Rwanda; the wool is naturally hand-dyed using artichoke pits! The merino wool they use is from their own flocks of sheep! (The sheep receive meticulous 24-hour care so they will be healthy and continue producing top quality wool).

Hope Hippo is made by young deaf women in Rwanda; creating these wool sculptures provides a dignified, purposeful employment for them. As they receive above fair trade wages for their skilled work, they are enabled to live a better life.
